
Sagar (Madhya Pradesh) [India], June 4 (ANI):
A Lieutenant Colonel posted at the Army camp in Madhya Pradesh’s Sagar district has gone missing, prompting an extensive police search operation, authorities confirmed on Wednesday.
The officer has been identified as Lt Col Pradeep Nigam, a native of Gwalior district. According to officials, he left the Army campus on June 2 for a routine morning walk but failed to return, raising concern among Army personnel. His absence was reported later that evening when senior Army officials approached the Cantt Police Station to file a missing person’s complaint.
Following the report, police registered a case and began their investigation into the officer’s disappearance.
Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Lokesh Sinha said, “A Subedar Major informed us that a Lieutenant Colonel had gone for a morning walk and did not return. Based on that information, a missing complaint was lodged at the Cantt Police Station and we immediately began efforts to trace him.”
ASP Sinha further stated that authorities are questioning individuals connected to the officer, including colleagues and acquaintances, in hopes of finding leads. “We are interrogating all the people associated with him and collecting both physical and technical evidence. All possible efforts are being made to locate him at the earliest,” he added.
The disappearance of an officer of such senior rank has raised alarm within both the Army and local law enforcement. The search operation is currently ongoing. (ANI)
