Doha [Qatar], May 16 (ANI): India’s world champion and Olympic gold medalist javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra made history by becoming the first Indian to breach the 90-meter mark in competition at the Doha Diamond League on Friday. Despite his remarkable performance, Chopra finished second after Germany’s Julian Weber delivered a stunning final throw.

His third throw proved monumental—Chopra hurled the javelin 90.23 m, smashing his own national record of 89.94 m set during the 2022 Stockholm Diamond League. This throw put him well ahead, with Julian Weber close behind at 89.06 m.
Neeraj’s subsequent throws included 80.56 m on the fourth attempt and a foul on the fifth, keeping him in the lead through the penultimate round. However, in the final round, Weber unleashed an extraordinary throw of 91.06 m, overtaking Chopra and claiming first place.
