Tel Aviv [Israel], July 28 (ANI/TPS): In response to a recent surge in violence against Israel’s public bus drivers, a special enforcement unit within the Ministry of Transportation will soon begin operations to provide immediate protection and support.
This newly established unit is designed to offer a “quick and immediate response” to incidents involving violence by passengers against bus drivers and transportation inspectors. It will be equipped with extensive enforcement powers and aims to enhance the sense of safety among thousands of public transportation drivers and the hundreds of thousands of passengers who rely on these services daily.
Israel’s Minister of Transportation and Road Safety, Miri Regev, authorized the formation of the unit in light of the growing number of violent incidents targeting public transportation personnel across various regions of the country.
The unit’s deployment is expected to deter potential attackers, swiftly intervene in violent situations, and ensure a safer environment throughout the nation’s public transit system.
