
Brasilia [Brazil], May 15 (ANI): Union Minister Nitin Gadkari represented India at the BRICS Transport Ministers’ Meet in Brasilia, Brazil, on Wednesday, emphasizing the country’s commitment to sustainable, resilient, and future-ready transport infrastructure.
Nitin Gadkari, the Minister of Road Transport and Highways, shared insights into India’s progress under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. In a social media post, he stated, “Represented India at the BRICS Transport Ministers’ Meet in Brasilia — driving the vision for a sustainable, resilient, and future-ready transport ecosystem.”
During the meeting, Gadkari highlighted several key initiatives led by the Indian government, including PM GatiShakti, the National Logistics Policy, Bharatmala, and Sagarmala. These programs reflect India’s focus on creating an integrated transport ecosystem that promotes inclusive growth and strengthens regional connectivity.
Gadkari noted that the flagship projects are part of India’s long-term strategy to build efficient multimodal transport infrastructure, which aligns with global sustainability goals. He further emphasized that India’s development agenda under PM Modi is aimed at modernizing the nation’s logistics and transportation sectors.
In his address, Gadkari reiterated that the vision for a sustainable and resilient transport ecosystem is crucial for India’s economic future, highlighting the country’s role in the BRICS grouping, which brings together major emerging economies.
The BRICS association, comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, accounts for 41% of the global population, 24% of world GDP, and over 16% of global trade. Established initially as BRIC in 2006, it was expanded to BRICS with South Africa’s inclusion in 2010. The group focuses on political, economic, and cultural cooperation, and has been instrumental in driving global economic growth.
