
Beijing [China], June 23 (ANI): National Security Adviser Ajit Doval met Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Beijing on Monday during the sidelines of the 20th Meeting of the SCO Security Council Secretaries. Wang Yi is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Doval’s visit to China is part of India’s participation in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation’s (SCO) security summit. During their meeting, both sides reviewed recent developments in India-China bilateral relations and emphasized the importance of promoting overall ties, including enhanced people-to-people engagement.
NSA Doval highlighted the need for concerted efforts to combat terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, noting that regional peace and stability depend on a strong counter-terrorism commitment. The discussion also covered various bilateral, regional, and global matters of mutual concern.
The MEA noted that NSA Doval expressed hope to welcome Wang Yi to India at a mutually convenient date for the 24th round of the Special Representative (SR) Talks on border issues and bilateral relations.
Meanwhile, Indian Commerce Secretary Sunil Barthwal commented on India’s ongoing engagement with China over the supply of rare earth minerals, a matter of strategic commercial importance. He stated that India is pursuing both diplomatic and commercial dialogues to ensure stable and predictable supply chains, especially concerning the auto industry.
Barthwal added that the Indian government is working with key industry groups such as the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) and the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association (ACMA) to facilitate communication with Chinese counterparts.
MEA Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal confirmed that the government is actively liaising with China through both embassies in Delhi and Beijing to stabilize trade flows and align supply chain practices with global standards. (ANI)
