New Delhi [India], May 12 (ANI): India has released the names of senior Pakistani officials who attended the funeral of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist Abdul Rauf, killed during Operation Sindoor. The funeral, held in Muridke, Pakistan, was attended by high-ranking members of the Pakistan Army and Punjab Police, including Lt Gen Fayyaz Hussain, Major General Rao Imran, Brigadier Mohd Furqan, Usman Anwar (Punjab Legislator), and Malik Sohaib Ahmed.
The Ministry of Defence revealed that Operation Sindoor specifically targeted nine terror camps located in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). The identified camps in PoJK included Sawal Nala, Syedna Bilal, Gulpur, Barnala, and Abbas, while the camps in Pakistan targeted were Bahawalpur, Muridke, Sarjal, and Mehmoona Joya. As per official reports, India has identified 21 terrorist camps in PoJK and Pakistan, with Operation Sindoor successfully neutralizing terrorists in Muridke and Bahawalpur.
One of the terrorists killed, Khalid Abu Akasha, was involved in smuggling arms from Afghanistan to Pakistan and had operated as a trained LeT terrorist in Jammu and Kashmir. Another slain terrorist, Mudassir Khadian Khas, was the in-charge of the Muridke Terrorist Camp and was closely associated with Hafiz Abdul Rauf and Hafiz Khalid Waleed, both influential figures within LeT.
Also neutralized in the operation was Mohammad Hassan Khan, son of Mufti Asghar Khan Kashmiri, a key figure in Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM). Hassan Khan had been linked to the 2019 Pulwama attack and played a significant role in organizing terrorist activities from the Syedna Bilal camp. Another targeted terrorist, Hafiz Muhammed Jameel, was a senior JeM leader and close confidante of JeM Chief Maulana Masood Azhar.
The Ministry of Defence noted that during Operation Sindoor, Pakistan damaged a Gurudwara and Madarasa in Poonch, while India successfully downed Pakistani drones at Ramnagar, Naushera, and Miran Sahib. India has emphasized maintaining direct communication between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of both nations, avoiding any third-party interventions or back-channel discussions.
India’s Operation Sindoor represents a strong counter-terrorism strategy, signaling that any provocations from Pakistan will be met with decisive and precise military action. The operation follows the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, in which 26 civilians, including a Nepali national, were killed. India’s response has been described as controlled, precise, and non-escalatory, demonstrating a firm stance against cross-border terrorism. (ANI)
