Konaseema (Andhra Pradesh) [India], January 5 (ANI): State-run Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) on Monday activated emergency response measures following a gas leak reported during workover operations at Well Mori#5 in the Mori Field, Andhra Pradesh.
The incident was reported by the PEC operator, Deep Industries Limited. ONGC stated that the well is situated in a remote area, with no human habitation within a 500–600 metre radius. “No injury or loss of life has been reported,” the company confirmed.
The affected area has been cordoned off, and cooling operations have commenced. ONGC has mobilised its Crisis Management Teams (CMT and RCMT) and initiated preparatory work to facilitate well-control and, if necessary, capping of the well.
Additionally, ONGC is coordinating with international well-control specialists, including arrangements for advanced well-control and casing-cutting operations, pending site assessment. Senior management and technical experts are closely monitoring the situation, with extra equipment being mobilised from nearby locations, including Narsapuram.
