New Delhi [India], May 12 (ANI): Air Marshal AK Bharti on Monday clarified that the objective of Operation Sindoor was to specifically target terrorists and not to engage with the Pakistan Military or Pakistani civilians.
During a press briefing, Air Marshal Bharti stated, “Our fight is with the terrorists, not with the Pakistan Military or civilians. We are very clear in our targeting.” He emphasized that the Indian Armed Forces demonstrated their capability through precise and targeted strikes during Operation Sindoor.
Highlighting the nation’s preparedness, Air Marshal Bharti remarked, “Our counter systems and trained air defence operators are fully capable. Our indigenous capabilities have proven effective. Regardless of emerging technologies, we are equipped to counter any threats. The results of our actions speak for themselves.”
Discussing the changing nature of warfare, Air Marshal Bharti noted that future conflicts would significantly differ from past engagements. “This was a different kind of warfare, and future wars will also evolve. It is a cat-and-mouse game, and we must stay ahead to outmaneuver our adversaries,” he explained.
When asked about allegations of strikes on Kirana Hills, he responded, “Thank you for informing us that Kirana Hills houses some nuclear installation. We were not aware of that. We did not strike Kirana Hills, whatever may be there.”
Operation Sindoor: A Targeted Strike Against Terrorism
Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7, targeted nine terror sites across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoK) as a response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, where 26 civilians, including one Nepali national, were killed.
On Saturday, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri confirmed that Pakistan’s Director General of Military Operations had contacted his Indian counterpart, agreeing to halt all military actions on land, sea, and air, effective from 5 pm. However, despite this agreement, reports surfaced of Pakistan violating the ceasefire.
According to sources, India’s air defence intercepted Pakistani drones amid a blackout in Srinagar, with red streaks and explosions reported in Udhampur. Similar blackouts were enforced in Pathankot and Ferozepur in Punjab, as well as Jaisalmer and Barmer in Rajasthan.
Foreign Secretary Misri condemned the violations, stating that India takes them very seriously and urged Pakistan to address the situation with responsibility and seriousness. He also confirmed that another round of DGMO-level talks would take place on May 12.
