New Delhi [India], August 19 (ANI): National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval on Tuesday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be visiting China shortly for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit.
Speaking during his opening remarks in talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi at Hyderabad House, Doval highlighted the upward momentum in bilateral ties, citing peace and tranquility along the border and the constructive role played by both Indian and Chinese leadership since their discussions in Kazan last year.
“Our Prime Minister will be visiting for the SCO Summit shortly. Therefore, I think these high-level talks assume very special importance,” Doval said. He also noted that 2025 marks the 75th year of diplomatic relations between India and China, calling it a milestone worth celebrating.
Reflecting on the last round of talks held in Beijing, Doval said, “I’m very happy that in the past nine months, there has been an upward trend. Borders have been quiet. There has been peace and tranquility. Our bilateral engagements have been more substantial.”
He credited the progress to the efforts of both governments, stating, “The new environment that has been created has helped us move ahead in various areas where we were working.”
Doval expressed optimism for the 24th round of Special Representative-level talks taking place in New Delhi, stressing that the “new energy and momentum, combined with the maturity and responsibility of our diplomatic teams, ambassadors, and armies on the borders,” had enabled progress.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi arrived in India on Monday for a two-day visit. Prior to meeting Doval, Wang held discussions with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. According to sources, Wang assured Jaishankar that China would address India’s key concerns in three areas: rare earths, fertilizers, and tunnel-boring machines.
The NSA concluded his remarks by emphasizing confidence in the continued strengthening of bilateral relations as both nations prepare for the upcoming SCO Summit. (ANI)
