Quetta [Pakistan], July 9 (ANI): The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for a series of coordinated attacks on Pakistani military forces in the Kalat and Turbat regions of Balochistan, leaving at least six soldiers dead and several others injured, according to a statement released by BLA spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch.
In Kalat’s Makai area near Johan Cross, BLA fighters carried out two remote-controlled improvised explosive device (IED) attacks targeting army bomb disposal personnel during a clearance operation. The first blast killed one soldier and critically injured another, while a second explosion at the same site reportedly killed two more personnel and wounded another.
In a separate assault in Kalat’s Morgand area, BLA snipers allegedly shot and killed a soldier collecting rations. The group then launched a heavy weapons attack on a nearby military post, firing grenade shells and claiming to have caused further casualties and structural damage.
The fourth attack occurred on the night of July 6 in Turbat’s Ghana area, where BLA fighters ambushed a Pakistani military convoy. Two vehicles came under direct fire, killing two soldiers and wounding others, while several personnel reportedly fled the scene.
In its statement, the BLA reiterated its resolve to continue what it calls its “resistance” against Pakistan’s “occupation” of Balochistan. The group said its actions are part of a broader campaign to challenge the military’s presence in the province.
Balochistan, Pakistan’s largest and resource-rich province, has long been plagued by violence and unrest. Human rights groups have repeatedly accused the Pakistani military and intelligence agencies of extrajudicial killings, enforced disappearances, and other abuses targeting Baloch activists and civilians over decades.
The Pakistani government has not yet issued an official response to the latest wave of attacks. (ANI)
