Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], June 4 (ANI):
All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) President Asaduddin Owaisi, part of an all-party delegation led by BJP MP Baijayant Panda that recently visited Gulf countries, strongly criticised Pakistan, calling it the “epicentre of Takfirism.” He accused the Pakistani government, its deep state, and intelligence agency ISI of actively fueling terrorism through illicit financial networks.
Owaisi highlighted that the delegation engaged with four countries, all members of key international bodies such as the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), and the Middle East and North Africa Financial Action Task Force (MENAFATF). These countries had previously supported India’s diplomatic efforts to place Pakistan on the FATF grey list in 2018.
Speaking to ANI, Owaisi said, “We represented India over there… all these countries are members of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The other three countries are members of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), and one is now a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council. All these countries are part of MENAFATF and have historical relations with India.”
He said the delegation raised serious concerns about Pakistan’s role in terrorism, especially the recent Pahalgam terror attack. “We told them this Resistance Front didn’t just come up on April 22nd. India had already informed the UN Security Council Resolution 1267 sanctions committee that this is a new name for Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). We also highlighted the speech of April 15th by Asim Munir,” he added.
Owaisi stressed that the root cause of terrorism is illegal money, calling for tighter monitoring of financial flows. “These four countries had helped India bring Pakistan back to the FATF grey list in 2018… We require their help as India initiates the process again. The root cause of terrorism is illegal money… we need to monitor it.”
He further noted, “A form of polio exists only in two countries in the world: Afghanistan and Pakistan. There is 40% poverty in Pakistan, so where is the money going? The Pakistan government, deep state, and ISI are indulging in terrorism. Pakistan has become the epicentre of Takfirism.”
The delegation led by Baijayant Panda included BJP MPs Nishikant Dubey, Phangnon Konyak, and Rekha Sharma; AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi; Satnam Singh Sandhu and Ghulam Nabi Azad; and former Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla.
During their visit, the delegation briefed international partners in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Algeria on India’s response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor, underscoring India’s ongoing fight against cross-border terrorism. (ANI)
