
Karachi [Pakistan], October 2 (ANI): A tragic incident in Karachi claimed the life of a minor child on Wednesday due to accidental firing, ARY News reported.
Officials stated that the incident occurred when a citizen in a car discharged a firearm. The accused, identified as Arif Shah, was arrested following the incident. Police confirmed there was no evidence of robbery linked to the firing. Another accomplice was reportedly present in the vehicle. Investigations are ongoing.
The incident comes amid a spate of violent crimes in Karachi. On October 1, a 25-year-old man, Sajjad Shaukat, was shot dead by robbers in front of his residence. According to police reports cited by DAWN, Shaukat was outside with his two children when two unidentified assailants on a motorcycle approached him. CCTV footage revealed the robbers demanded his cell phone. Upon resistance, they opened fire, leaving Shaukat critically injured. He was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Following the incident, West Zone DIG Irfan Ali Baloch ordered the suspension of the SHO for failing to control crime in the area.
Earlier, on September 30, a police officer named Qaiser was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Bhains Colony while resisting a robbery, according to ARY News. Eyewitnesses reported the culprit fled with a 30-bore pistol after the attack.
These incidents highlight the persistent security challenges in Karachi, raising concerns over law enforcement and public safety. (ANI)
