Rajouri (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], June 29 (ANI): Security forces on Sunday apprehended a Pakistani national in the Manjakote area of Rajouri district, along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.
The individual, identified as 22-year-old Mohammad Arib Ahmed, was detained in a forward area of the Bhimber Gali sector. According to officials, he is currently being interrogated by security personnel to determine the motive and circumstances behind his presence in the sensitive border region.
Further details are awaited as the investigation continues.
This incident mirrors similar border transgressions in recent months. Just last month, a Pakistani national was apprehended near the LoC in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. In another case, Border Security Force (BSF) personnel detained a Pakistani individual who had illegally crossed the border in Punjab’s Gurdaspur district.
Meanwhile, India has intensified efforts on the diplomatic front to counter cross-border terrorism. Following the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, a multi-party delegation—comprising seven political groups and led by Members of Parliament—was sent abroad to counter misinformation and present India’s zero-tolerance policy on terrorism. The delegation engaged with leadership in Spain, Greece, Slovenia, Latvia, and Russia, briefing them on India’s counter-terrorism stance and response to cross-border threats.
Security agencies remain on high alert across the LoC and international border areas to prevent unauthorized crossings and potential infiltration attempts. (ANI)
