
New Delhi [India], April 5 (ANI): The Budget Session of Parliament for 2025 concluded on Friday with a total of 16 bills passed by both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, marking a highly productive session. According to the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, Lok Sabha achieved 118% productivity, while Rajya Sabha recorded 119%.
The session, which began on January 31, included an inter-session break and ended on April 5. It comprised 26 sittings overall — 9 in the first part and 17 in the second. Key legislative highlights of the session included passage of the Waqf Amendment Bill, Finance Bill 2025, and several other crucial financial and policy bills.
Highlights of Budget Session 2025:
🔹 Key Bills Passed:
- Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2025: Focuses on modernizing waqf property management, improving stakeholder empowerment, and implementing scientific governance. Also repeals the Mussalman Wakf Act, 1923.
- Disaster Management (Amendment) Bill, 2025: Strengthens national and state disaster response systems, includes urban-specific disaster authorities and a national disaster database.
- Tribhuvan Sahkari University Bill, 2025: Establishes a cooperative-sector-focused university offering training, research, and degree programs.
- Immigration and Foreigners Bill, 2025: Simplifies visa and foreigner entry/exit regulations.
- Banking Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2025: Enhances governance in public sector banks, improves depositor safety, and boosts audit quality.
🔹 Financial Legislation:
- Union Budget 2025–26 presented on February 1.
- Demands for Grants for Ministries like Railways, Jal Shakti, and Agriculture were debated and passed.
- Appropriation Bills for 2024–25 (including Manipur) and 2025–26 passed in both Houses.
- Finance Bill, 2025 passed in Lok Sabha on March 25, returned by Rajya Sabha on March 27.
🔹 President’s Address and Motion of Thanks:
- Delivered under Article 87(1) on January 31.
- In Lok Sabha, 173 members participated in the debate (17 hours, 23 minutes).
- In Rajya Sabha, 73 members spoke (21 hours, 46 minutes).

The session was praised for smooth conduct and high participation levels, with the government emphasizing efficiency and legislative progress ahead of upcoming elections.
