Berlin [Germany], October 23 (ANI): Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal on Thursday met German Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy Katherina Reiche in Berlin, where he underscored India’s vast talent pool and ongoing efforts to promote the Ease of Doing Business.
Inviting German firms to expand their footprint in India, Goyal wrote on X (formerly Twitter):
“I highlighted how India’s large talent pool, combined with our push for Ease of Doing Business, offers attractive prospects for German companies to diversify investments and strengthen supply chain resilience.”
According to the minister, discussions with Reiche focused on deepening Indo-German cooperation in trade and investment, along with joint industrial and technological partnerships in green energy, emerging technologies, and defence manufacturing. The two leaders also reviewed progress on finalising the India–EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA).
During his visit, Goyal also participated in a Round Table discussion with CEOs from Germany’s Mittelstand (small and medium-sized enterprises) and Indian businesses. He highlighted India’s growing role in innovation, sustainable manufacturing, and industrial collaboration, encouraging both nations to forge deeper trade and investment partnerships for mutual growth.
Goyal’s visit marks a key milestone in enhancing India–Germany engagement, particularly as 2025 commemorates the 25th anniversary of the India–Germany Strategic Partnership — a relationship noted for its depth, resilience, and long-standing cooperation.
According to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the Minister’s meetings aim to facilitate high-impact interactions with senior government officials, industry leaders, and business associations in both nations.
Goyal is also scheduled to hold a high-level meeting with Xavier Bettel, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Luxembourg, to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral trade, prepare for Luxembourg’s forthcoming State Visit to India, and exchange views on key regional and global developments.
As part of his itinerary, Goyal will also conduct one-on-one meetings with CEOs of leading German companies, including Schaeffler Group, Renk Vehicle Mobility Solutions, Herrenknecht AG, Infineon Technologies AG, Enertrag SE, and Mercedes-Benz Group AG, the ministry said in its statement. (ANI)
