Saudi Visit
Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, April 22 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in Jeddah for a two-day State visit to Saudi Arabia. He was welcomed with a ceremonial 21-gun salute, and in a special gesture, Royal Saudi Arabian fighter planes escorted his plane as it entered Saudi airspace.
The Prime Minister is on an official visit at the invitation of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. During his visit, PM Modi will co-chair the second Leaders’ Meeting of the India-Saudi Arabia Strategic Partnership Council with the Saudi Crown Prince.
This marks PM Modi’s third visit to Saudi Arabia, having previously visited in 2016 and 2019. Modi’s visit is significant as it underscores India’s growing ties with Saudi Arabia, with a focus on strengthening defence cooperation and expanding the economic partnership, which is currently valued at nearly USD 43 billion.
The Indian community in Jeddah is excited about PM Modi’s visit and is preparing for a vibrant and traditional welcome. PM Modi has visited the Gulf region 15 times, solidifying India’s role in strengthening relations with the region.
The Prime Minister was previously conferred with Saudi Arabia’s highest civilian honor, the “King Abdulaziz Sash,” during his 2016 visit.
