
Brasilia [Brazil], July 8 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a warm and vibrant welcome at Brasilia airport on his arrival Monday, greeted by the Batala Mundo band performing traditional Afro-Brazilian compositions.
In a post on X, Modi wrote, “At Brasilia airport, the Batala Mundo band played some wonderful compositions. Theirs is a global effort to promote Afro-Brazilian percussion, in particular the Samba-Reggae from Salvador da Bahia, Brazil.”
Members of the Indian community in Brazil were also present at the airport to greet the Prime Minister. In another post, Modi noted, “Landed in Brasilia a short while ago. The Indian community accorded a memorable welcome, once again highlighting how passionate our diaspora is and how connected they remain with their roots.”
Randhir Jaiswal, Official Spokesperson for India’s Ministry of External Affairs, shared further details of the reception. “Taking new strides in the India-Brazil steadfast partnership. PM Narendra Modi has landed in the capital city of Brasilia on a State Visit to Brazil. On arrival, he was warmly received by Mr. Jose Mucio Monteiro Filho, Minister of Defence of Brazil, at the airport. The welcome was made delightfully musical by the traditional Brazilian Samba-Reggae performance,” Jaiswal said.
After reaching his hotel in Brasilia on Monday evening (local time), the Prime Minister interacted with members of the Indian diaspora, including children waving Indian flags.
Modi also witnessed a cultural performance at the hotel, expressing his appreciation for the artists and taking photographs with them after the program. He also attended a spiritual performance as part of the welcome festivities.
During his visit, Modi is scheduled to hold bilateral discussions with Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva to broaden the Strategic Partnership between the two nations. Key areas of focus will include trade, defense, energy, space, technology, agriculture, health, and people-to-people ties, according to a statement from the Ministry of External Affairs. (ANI)
