New Delhi [India], May 11 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi has conveyed to the United States that India will respond firmly to any hostile actions taken by Pakistan, without feeling the need to offer an off-ramp or de-escalation option, according to sources.
US Vice President JD Vance reached out to PM Modi amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack. The conversation focused on Pakistan’s desire for a favorable resolution, but nuclear options were not discussed. PM Modi listened to the US proposal without committing to a specific response.
According to the sources, PM Modi made it clear that if Pakistan takes any provocative action, India will respond decisively, without offering concessions. This stance reflects India’s commitment to national security and its ongoing military operation, Operation Sindoor, aimed at dismantling terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).
Following the Pahalgam terror attack, India conducted precision airstrikes on critical Pakistani military installations as part of Operation Sindoor. These strikes targeted Pakistani airbases and radar sites, significantly impacting their military capabilities.
In response, Pakistan launched drone attacks on Indian sites, prompting further Indian airstrikes. The situation led to increased diplomatic engagement, with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio contacting Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. Rubio conveyed Pakistan’s willingness to negotiate, but India insisted that discussions must be directly between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of both countries, without third-party mediation.
India remains firm in its stance on Kashmir, asserting that the only unresolved matter is the return of Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) to India. The Indian government has made it clear that it does not seek or require any third-party mediation in this issue.
Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7, targeted nine terrorist sites linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in Pakistan and PoJK. India emphasized that the operation aimed to neutralize terror leaders while minimizing collateral damage.
India’s approach to counter-terrorism has set a “new normal,” demonstrating that any hostile actions from Pakistan will prompt a decisive and precise response. (ANI)
