JOHANNESBURG, South Africa, November 23 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday urged G20 nations to work toward developing a Global Framework for Talent Mobility, calling for a shift in focus from preparing for the “jobs of today” to building the “capabilities of tomorrow.” His remarks came during his address at the G20 Session on “A Fair and Just Future for All,” according to a Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) press release.
PM Modi highlighted that global talent mobility will be essential for fostering innovation, economic growth, and international cooperation. He encouraged G20 countries to collaborate on establishing a mechanism that enables the smooth movement of skilled professionals across borders.
“Recalling progress made on talent mobility at the New Delhi G20 Summit, he proposed that the group should develop a Global Framework for Talent Mobility in the coming years,” the MEA said.
The Prime Minister also extended an invitation to all G20 member nations to participate in the AI Impact Summit scheduled for February 2026, themed “Sarvajanam Hitaya, Sarvajanam Sukhaya” (Welfare for all, Happiness for all).
During the session, PM Modi underscored the importance of human-centric critical technologies and outlined India’s approach to Artificial Intelligence—emphasising equitable access, population-level skilling, and responsible deployment. He stressed that the promotion of critical technologies must shift from being “finance-centric” to “human-centric,” “national” to “global,” and from “exclusive models” to “open source” systems.
He noted that India’s technology ecosystem already reflects this vision, resulting in significant advancements in areas such as space applications, AI, and digital payments—where India stands as a global leader.
Highlighting the India-AI Mission, PM Modi said accessible high-performance computing capacity is being created to ensure AI-driven benefits reach all sections of society. He reiterated that while AI has the potential to expand human capabilities, human oversight must remain central to its deployment.
Calling for a global compact on AI, the Prime Minister proposed that it be built on principles of transparency, human oversight, safety-by-design, and preventing misuse. He emphasised that AI must contribute to global good and serve as a tool for inclusive progress.
PM Modi concluded with India’s overarching message for global well-being: a commitment to development that is sustainable, trade that is trusted, finance that is fair, and progress that is shared by all.
