Dhar (Madhya Pradesh) [India], September 17 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday launched the ‘Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar’ (SNSP) Abhiyaan alongside the 8th Rashtriya Poshan Maah in Dhar, Madhya Pradesh. MP Chief Minister Mohan Yadav attended the event.
Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda participated remotely from Haryana, inaugurating multiple health camps with state officials, while Union Ministers of State for Health, Prataprao Jadhav and Anupriya Patel, joined from Mumbai and Delhi, respectively.
The SNSP Abhiyaan represents the largest-ever health outreach for women and children in India. Jointly led by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW) and the Ministry of Women & Child Development (MoWCD), the initiative will organise over 10 lakh health camps from September 17 to October 2 at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, Community Health Centres, District Hospitals, and other government facilities nationwide.
The campaign focuses on preventive, promotive, and curative health services for women and children, including early detection and treatment of non-communicable diseases, anaemia, tuberculosis, and sickle cell disease. Maternal, child, and adolescent health initiatives will include antenatal care, immunisation, nutrition, menstrual hygiene, lifestyle, and mental health awareness programs. The campaign also aims to mobilise communities towards healthier lifestyles, with emphasis on obesity prevention, improved nutrition, and voluntary blood donation.
In his address, PM Modi said, “Our mothers and sisters, our Nari Shakti, are the main Aadhar of our Rashtra Pragati. If a mother is healthy, the whole family stays healthy. A mother’s health impacts the whole family. Therefore, this campaign is dedicated to mothers and sisters and for their healthy future.”
He described the initiative as a ‘Maha Abhiyaan’ promoting women-led development, ensuring no woman falls victim to serious illnesses due to lack of knowledge or resources. Early diagnosis for conditions like hypertension, diabetes, anaemia, and cancer will be available during the campaign, he added.
PM Modi urged women to utilise the health camps and highlighted that all tests and medicines would be provided free of cost, with additional treatment covered under the Ayushman Suraksha Kavach.
The Prime Minister also highlighted government efforts to improve maternal and child health through schemes like the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, benefiting over 4.5 crore pregnant women with transfers exceeding Rs 19,000 crore.
During the event, PM Modi handed over the one croreth sickle cell card, noting that the National Sickle Cell Anaemia Mission has screened over five crore people, saving lakhs of tribal lives.
CM Mohan Yadav lauded the government for choosing the tribal region of Dhar for the launch, citing the historic transformation over the past 11 years.
The campaign, running from September 17 to October 2, 2025, will see daily health camps across all government health facilities, making it the largest health outreach for women and children in India. Community mobilisation is being led by ASHAs, ANMs, Anganwadi workers, SHGs, PRIs, urban local bodies, MY Bharat volunteers, and youth groups, with participation from Central and State Ministers, MPs, and other public representatives.
