Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], June 19 (ANI): President Droupadi Murmu arrived in Dehradun on Thursday for a three-day visit to Uttarakhand. She was received at Jolly Grant Airport by Uttarakhand Governor Lt. General Gurmit Singh (Retd.) and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.
During her visit, President Murmu will lay the foundation stone of a state-of-the-art public park being developed on 132 acres of land along Rajpur Road in Dehradun. The park is expected to be completed within a year and will then be opened to the public, according to an official statement.
In addition, Rashtrapati Niketan—previously known as Rashtrapati Ashiyana—spread across 24 acres, will be inaugurated for public access on June 24. The heritage building houses a collection of artifacts, and visitors will be able to explore attractions such as Lily Talab, Rokari Talab, and the Rose Garden.
Another highlight of the President’s itinerary is the dedication of Rashtrapati Tapovan to the general public. This tranquil 19-acre area features winding paths, wooden bridges, and serene spaces for contemplation and meditation.
Meanwhile, President Murmu’s scheduled visit to Madhya Pradesh from June 18 to 19 has been canceled, as confirmed by the Indore District Collector. She was originally set to visit Indore and Barwani, where she was expected to attend a state-level program commemorating World Sickle Cell Day in Taloon Gram Panchayat, Barwani district, on June 19.
The cancellation was formally announced on the Indore Collector’s official X handle: “Her Excellency President Droupadi Murmu’s visit to Indore and Barwani on 18th and 19th June has been cancelled.”
President Murmu was scheduled to serve as the chief guest at the program, which would have also been attended by Madhya Pradesh Governor Mangubhai Patel, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla, and other state ministers. (ANI)
