New Delhi [India], June 19 (ANI): The University of Delhi (DU) has made a significant mark in the QS World University Rankings 2026, securing the 30th position globally in the Employment Outcomes category—its highest placement ever in this metric—and earning the top spot among all Indian institutions.
While DU retained its overall global rank of 328, the university climbed 14 places in the Employment Outcomes category from last year, reflecting a steady rise in the employability of its graduates. Vice Chancellor Yogesh Singh announced the achievement, stating that DU now ranks first among Indian institutions in this category and seventh overall within India.
“This marked improvement underscores the University of Delhi’s rising academic excellence and expanding global reputation,” Singh said. “With our global rank at 328, the increase in our overall score—from 33.8 to 42.6—reflects the growing depth, quality, and impact of our institutional efforts.”
The rankings, conducted by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), evaluated 8,467 institutions globally and published results for the top 1,501 universities. Despite heightened global competition and a revised evaluation methodology, DU maintained its global standing, a testament to its institutional resilience and strategic focus on academic advancement.
Singh credited the university’s faculty, researchers, and students for driving this transformation through consistent delivery of innovative, high-impact research and international engagement.
Other notable gains include:
- International Research Network: improved from rank 406 to 294, a jump of 112 positions.
- Citations per Faculty: improved from 488 to 403, reflecting enhanced research influence.
These results highlight DU’s sustained efforts to promote quality research and align its academic initiatives with global benchmarks.
India also recorded its best-ever performance in the QS World University Rankings 2026, with 54 institutions featured—a 390% increase over the past decade and the highest growth among G20 nations. India now ranks fourth in overall representation, behind only the United States (192), the United Kingdom (90), and Mainland China (72).
Among Indian institutions, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi emerged as the top-ranked, climbing to 123rd from 150th last year. IIT Bombay and IIT Madras followed at 129th and 180th, respectively. Notably, IIT Madras entered the global top 200 for the first time. (ANI)
