New Delhi, April 17: Congress leader Pawan Khera confirmed on Thursday that Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, will travel to the United States on April 21 and 22. During his visit, Gandhi will speak at Brown University in Rhode Island, where he will interact with faculty members and students.
Khera made the announcement on social media, saying, “Former Congress President Mr. Rahul Gandhi will be visiting Brown University in Rhode Island, United States, on the 21st and 22nd of April. He will give a talk and interact with faculty members and students.”
Before his visit to Brown University, Gandhi will meet with members of the NRI community and the office bearers and members of the Indian Overseas Congress (IOC). This visit marks another leg of Gandhi’s ongoing engagement with the Indian diaspora.
In September 2024, Rahul Gandhi had a three-day visit to the US, where he traveled to Dallas and Washington, D.C., engaging with students and addressing the Indian diaspora at various events. During that visit, he interacted with students at the University of Texas and Georgetown University.
In 2023, Gandhi had also delivered a strong critique of the Indian government during a lecture at Cambridge University, alleging attacks on the country’s democracy and claiming surveillance through Israeli spyware, Pegasus.
Earlier this week, Rahul Gandhi emphasized the importance of Gujarat in defeating the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). He stated that the battle was not just political but also ideological, asserting that only the Congress party could effectively challenge the BJP. Additionally, Gandhi revealed that the Congress leadership is focused on strengthening the party at the district level to address internal competition among party workers.
