
Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India], August 5 (ANI): Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Tuesday announced a special initiative providing free travel to women across the state in Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation (RSRTC) buses for two days on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan.
The announcement was made during the ‘Anganwadi Behen Ka Samman’ program held at the Birla Auditorium in Jaipur, where the Chief Minister tied Rakhi to women from across the state and extended warm Raksha Bandhan wishes. As per the official statement, the free bus service will be available within state boundaries for two days, ensuring that sisters can meet their brothers without any transportation barriers.
Highlighting the cultural and emotional significance of the festival, CM Sharma remarked, “Raksha Bandhan is not just a festival, but a living expression of our social and family traditions. On this auspicious occasion, the state government is committed to ensuring that no sister is deprived of the opportunity to meet her brother.”
During the event, the Chief Minister also emphasized the government’s ongoing efforts to empower women. He announced a Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) of ₹501 as Rakhi Shagun to 1.21 lakh Anganwadi workers across the state.
Earlier in the day, CM Sharma marked the sixth anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370, calling it a historic move that has accelerated development in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. In a post on X, he stated, “On this day, August 5, 2019, under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji and Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah ji, the Government of India took the historic decision to abrogate the special provisions of Article 370 and 35A. This strengthened the unity, integrity, and sovereignty of the nation.”
He added, “Heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to all countrymen on the successful completion of six years of this historic decision that connected Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh with the mainstream of development!”
