New Delhi [India], November 25 (ANI): Rear Admiral Mohamed Tahin, Inspector of the Moroccan Royal Navy, paid tribute at India’s National War Memorial on Tuesday, laying a wreath at the site. He received the Guard of Honour in the national capital, where he was welcomed by Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi. The visit follows Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s trip to Morocco in September.
During his visit to Morocco, Singh inaugurated Tata Advanced Systems Maroc’s new manufacturing facility in Berrechid, calling it a milestone that showcased India’s growing role in global defense collaboration. “Along with Make in India, we are also working on Make with Friends. Under this initiative, we will collaborate with trusted partners to develop and produce cutting-edge technologies. Ultimately, through ‘Make for the World,’ the benefits of our innovation will be shared globally,” Singh said. He added that the Berrechid facility demonstrates that Indian industries can meet domestic needs while enhancing the defense capabilities of friendly nations through partnership.
Singh highlighted the broader framework of India-Morocco bilateral ties, noting that cooperation has expanded across multiple sectors, including renewable energy, fertilizers, information technology, tourism, and now defense and advanced manufacturing. During his meeting with Morocco’s Defence Minister Abdeltif Loudiyi, the two leaders signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on defense cooperation.
The MoU establishes a robust institutional framework for collaboration in the defense industry, joint exercises, military training, and capacity building. Both ministers agreed to intensify defense industry collaboration and adopted a comprehensive roadmap covering counter-terrorism, maritime security, cyber defense, peacekeeping operations, military medicine, and expert exchanges.
To support these initiatives, Singh announced the opening of a new Defence Wing at the Embassy of India in Rabat. He also emphasized India’s advanced defense capabilities, including drone and counter-drone technologies, assuring Morocco that Indian companies are well-positioned to meet the country’s defense requirements. The visit marked a significant milestone in India-Morocco defense relations, reflecting the growing alignment of strategic interests between the two nations. (ANI)
