Washington DC [US], May 14 (ANI): Richard Rossow, Chairperson of India and Emerging Asia Economics, has described India’s recent actions during Operation Sindoor as a significant shift in strategy compared to past responses to attacks by Pakistan. Speaking to ANI, Rossow highlighted that India’s response marks a new direction in dealing with cross-border terrorism.
“This was a different form of escalation, targeting a large number of sites simultaneously. Once the escalation began for India, it marked a clear departure from the past,” Rossow stated.
Reflecting on past responses, Rossow noted that India’s approach has evolved significantly since the 2016 cross-border ground assault against terror camps in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and the 2019 airstrikes on terrorist facilities within Pakistan. He stressed that Pakistan must now recognize that India will no longer rely solely on diplomatic measures but will also take decisive military action when required.
“So it’s an important moment when I think Pakistan understands that India is not just going to play the normal game of diplomatic measures,” Rossow added. He emphasized that India no longer differentiates as sharply between terror camps and military facilities, marking a fundamental change from previous strategies.
In response to Pakistan’s recent statement condemning India’s actions, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) asserted that Pakistan’s long-standing support for terrorism holds it accountable for the repercussions. MEA Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that Pakistan’s efforts to deflect blame are futile, given its track record of fostering terrorism on an industrial scale.
Jaiswal pointed out that the targeted terrorist infrastructure had been responsible for the deaths of not only Indian citizens but also numerous innocents globally. He reiterated that India’s stance on cross-border terrorism remains resolute, and necessary actions will be taken to ensure national security.
