
Riga [Latvia], May 31 (ANI): State Secretary of Latvia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Andzejs Vilumsons, during his meeting with the All-Party Delegation led by DMK MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi, expressed Latvia’s unequivocal opposition to terrorism in all its forms. Vilumsons strongly condemned the terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22.
The Indian Embassy in Riga posted on X, “State Secretary Andzejs Vilumsons during his meeting with the All-Party delegation supporting India expressed Latvia’s unequivocal opposition to terrorism in all its forms.”
Representing India’s united voice on zero tolerance for cross-border terrorism, the delegation met with State Secretary Vilumsons and Ambassador Andrejs Pildegovics, Special Envoy for Latvia’s UNSC Candidacy. The delegation shared detailed facts about the Pahalgam terrorist attack, the reasons behind the launch of Operation Sindoor, and India’s new doctrine affirming the right to respond to threats against its national security.
Vilumsons reiterated Latvia’s strong condemnation of the Pahalgam attack and reaffirmed the country’s firm stance against terrorism. He also acknowledged India’s role as a significant player in the Indo-Pacific region, contributing to peace and stability. The delegation expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his visit to Ukraine in September 2024.
The All-Party Delegation paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi’s bust at the National Library of Latvia in Riga, sending a clear message that India remains a nation committed to peace while standing ready to implement Operation Sindoor if its national security is threatened by destabilizing forces.
The Indian diaspora in Latvia organised a ‘Sindoor Samman’ event in Riga to welcome Group 6 of the delegation led by DMK MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi. The delegation engaged with the Indian community during the event.
Along with Kanimozhi Karunanidhi, the delegation includes Rajeev Rai (Samajwadi Party), Mian Altaf Ahmad (Jammu and Kashmir National Conference), Brijesh Chowta (BJP), Prem Chand Gupta (Rashtriya Janata Dal), Ashok Kumar Mittal (Aam Aadmi Party), and former envoys Manjeev S Puri and Jawed Ashraf.
