
Moscow [Russia], May 12 (ANI): Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi held telephone talks, discussing the strategic strength of Russia-India relations, which both leaders described as a uniquely privileged partnership.
During their conversation, President Putin extended his condolences over the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam. Both sides emphasized the importance of continued cooperation in combating terrorism.
Prime Minister Modi also congratulated President Putin and the people of Russia on the upcoming 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, a significant historical event for both nations.
Furthermore, PM Modi extended a warm invitation to President Putin to visit India for the traditional annual bilateral summit, a gesture that was positively received by the Russian side.
Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth represented India at the Victory Day celebrations held in Moscow from May 8 to 9. The occasion marked the 80th anniversary of the Soviet Union’s victory in World War II. Minister Seth laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and witnessed the Victory Day Parade alongside distinguished delegates from various countries.
During his visit, Minister Seth met with Russian President Vladimir Putin to offer congratulations for the 80th Victory Day, and also held a bilateral meeting with Russian Deputy Defence Minister Colonel General Alexander Fomin. The two sides discussed India’s fight against state-sponsored cross-border terrorism and agreed to further strengthen military and technical cooperation. Both parties expressed a commitment to continuing consultations and enhancing ties within the framework of existing institutional mechanisms.
