New Delhi [India], August 17 (ANI): Congress Member of Parliament KC Venugopal on Saturday emphasized Bihar’s historic legacy of movements and activism, announcing that the party is launching a major campaign to seek the truth.
He accused the Election Commission of India (ECI) of consistently criticizing the Congress while failing to provide clear answers on discrepancies in the Special Summary Revision (SSR) and voter lists.
“Bihar is the land of ‘aandolan.’ Today, we are starting a big ‘aandolan’ to search for truth. The ECI criticizes us daily, yet they fail to provide clear answers to our questions. We are going to the people of Bihar, where we will narrate the discrepancies of SIR and the voter list,” Venugopal said.
He further questioned, “Why is the ECI not answering the questions we have raised? They are clearly in a self-defense situation.”
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will launch the “Voter Adhikar Yatra” today from Sasaram, Bihar, to raise awareness about voter rights and protest alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
The 16-day yatra will cover 1,300 kilometers, with one-day breaks on August 20, 25, and 31. Rahul Gandhi will be joined by Mahagathbandhan leaders, including Tejashwi Yadav and representatives from Left parties. The journey will be conducted in a hybrid mode, echoing Rahul Gandhi’s earlier Bharat Jodo Yatras, with the first leg on foot and the second in a combined format.
The yatra will conclude on September 1 at the historic Gandhi Maidan in Patna with a massive rally featuring key INDIA alliance leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, Tejashwi Yadav, and Lalu Prasad Yadav.
The rally will serve both as a show of strength for the INDIA alliance and as the formal launch of their Bihar assembly election campaign. (ANI)
