Puerto Santa, Peru, December 28 (ANI): A strong earthquake measuring 6.0 on the Richter scale struck the South Pacific Ocean on Saturday, according to the National Center for Seismology.
Sharing details in a post on X, the National Center for Seismology said the earthquake occurred at 8:21 a.m. IST at a depth of 67 kilometers.
The seismic event was recorded at latitude 8.93 degrees south and longitude 78.90 degrees west, with its epicenter located in the South Pacific Ocean.
According to the United States Geological Survey, the earthquake occurred about 36 kilometers west of Puerto Santa in Peru.
No reports of damage or casualties have been received so far.
