New Delhi [India], April 23 (ANI): The Supreme Court of India on Wednesday strongly condemned the heinous terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which took place on Tuesday and claimed multiple innocent lives.
In a solemn and unified response, the apex court adopted a resolution denouncing the “cowardly” act of violence and expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives.
“This diabolical act of mindless violence has shaken the conscience of all and is a stark reminder of the brutality and inhumanity that terrorism unleashes,” read the court’s resolution.
The Supreme Court extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and expressed hope for the swift recovery of the injured. “May the departed souls rest in peace, and may those who were injured recover soon. The nation stands with the victims and their families in this hour of indescribable grief,” it added.
In a gesture of solidarity, all judges, lawyers, court staff, and others present at the Supreme Court and Registry observed a two-minute silence to honor the memory of the victims.
Calling Kashmir the “Crown Jewel of India,” the court emphasized that the attack on peaceful tourists enjoying its beauty was a direct affront to humanity and the sanctity of life. “This Court strongly condemns the same,” it stated.
The court’s condemnation comes as the entire nation reels from the shock of one of the deadliest terror incidents in Kashmir in decades. Earlier today, Union Home Minister Amit Shah reviewed the situation at the attack site in Baisaran meadow, supported by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), which is now assisting the J-K Police in the ongoing investigation.
