Sivaganga (Tamil Nadu) [India], November 30 (ANI): At least seven people lost their lives after two buses collided head-on near Tirupattur in Sivaganga district on Sunday evening, confirmed Sivaganga District Superintendent of Police Siva Prasad. The cause of the accident is yet to be determined, and an investigation is currently underway. Further details are awaited.
Earlier incidents in the region underscore the dangers of road travel. On November 24, 2025, six people, including a child, died and over 50 were hospitalized following a collision between two passenger buses in Tenkasi district, Tamil Nadu. Injured passengers suffered severe injuries, including fractures to the arms, legs, and head, with at least 55 people traveling on the buses at the time.
In Karnataka, on the same day, a head-on collision between two bikes on the Chambol-Benakanahalli road in Bidar district claimed three lives, including a five-year-old child. The deceased were identified as Mallikarjuna (35), his daughter Mahalaxmi (5), and Pawan (28).
Tamil Nadu has witnessed several deadly road accidents in recent years. On March 7, 2025, a collision between a tipper lorry and a bus near Thiruttani in Tiruvallur district killed five people and left ten others seriously injured. On May 16, 2024, four people were killed and fifteen injured when an omnibus collided with a lorry on the Chennai–Trichy Highway near Madhuranthangam, a suburban area of Chennai district, police reported.
