Brasilia [Brazil], June 2 (ANI): Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, who is leading an all-party Indian parliamentary delegation abroad, expressed concern on Monday over the recent “terror attack” in Boulder, Colorado. In a post on X, Tharoor stated that the delegation was relieved there was no loss of life and echoed sentiments expressed by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio that “terror has no place in our countries.”
“Members of the Indian MPs’ delegation learnt with concern about the terror attack in Boulder, Colorado, today. We are relieved there was no loss of life. We all share the Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s view that ‘terror has no place’ in our countries,” Tharoor posted.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has charged 45-year-old Mohamed Sabry Soliman in connection with what officials described as a “targeted terror attack” that occurred Sunday in Boulder. According to Fox News, the attack left six individuals—aged between 67 and 88—injured and hospitalized.
Boulder Police Department (BPD) Chief Steve Redfearn said officers responded to a call at around 1:26 p.m. local time at the county courthouse on Pearl Street following reports of a man using a weapon and setting people on fire. Soliman, reportedly shouting “Free Palestine” during the assault, was taken into custody at the scene.
FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino said the incident is being investigated as an act of “ideologically motivated violence” based on initial evidence and witness testimony. FBI Director Kash Patel also confirmed the agency’s involvement via a post on X, stating, “We are aware of and fully investigating a targeted terror attack in Boulder, Colorado. Our agents and local law enforcement are on the scene already, and we will share updates as more information becomes available.”
The attack occurred near an event organized by Run for Their Lives, a grassroots group that stages global run and walk events advocating for the release of Israeli hostages held by Hamas, according to the Anti-Defamation League (ADL).
Tharoor’s delegation, which is currently in Brazil, is scheduled to travel to the United States tomorrow. The group was welcomed upon arrival in Brasília by Sandeep Kumar Kujur, the Charge d’Affaires of the Indian Embassy in Brazil. (ANI)
