New Delhi [India], May 22 (ANI): India on Thursday reaffirmed its determination to combat terrorism and urged the international community to hold Pakistan accountable for cross-border terror attacks carried out against India. Speaking at the Ministry of External Affairs’ (MEA) weekly media briefing, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal emphasized the need for a united global effort to eliminate terrorism in all its forms.
Responding to a question regarding the ongoing multi-party diplomatic delegation, Jaiswal said, “There are seven delegations. Three delegations have departed. This is a political mission. We want to make a stronger outreach to the world to convey our resolve to fight terrorism. We want the world to come together to fight terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.”
He continued, “We want to exhort the world to hold those responsible for cross-border terrorism accountable. Those who have been practising it for the last 40 years against India—that is, Pakistan. Their actions need to be called out. They have to be held accountable for the terror attacks that they have carried out against India.”
Highlighting the gravity of the threat, Jaiswal added, “That is the larger message: the unity of India, the purpose of India.”
India’s Response: Operation Sindoor
India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 as a robust military response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians. The Indian Armed Forces struck multiple terror infrastructures in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in the deaths of more than 100 terrorists affiliated with extremist groups such as Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen.
Pakistan retaliated with cross-border shelling and drone attacks along the Line of Control and other border regions. India responded with a coordinated offensive, damaging radar systems, communication hubs, and airfields across 11 Pakistani airbases. This escalation culminated in a mutual understanding to cease hostilities, announced on May 10.
Global Diplomacy: Multi-Party Delegation in Asia
To rally international support, India has dispatched an All-Party Parliamentary Delegation to multiple Asian nations. The delegation, led by Sanjay Kumar Jha and including Ambassador Mohan Kumar, BJP MP Hemang Joshi, CPI(M) MP John Brittas, TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee, BJP MPs Aparajita Sarangi, Brij Lal, and Pradan Baruah, arrived in Tokyo today.
Their mission is to engage with political and diplomatic leaders in Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, South Korea, and Singapore. The goal is to brief these nations on India’s decisive military and diplomatic response to the Pahalgam attack and to strengthen collaborative efforts against cross-border terrorism.
