New York [US], July 1 (ANI): External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar inaugurated an exhibition titled “The Human Cost of Terrorism” at the United Nations Headquarters in New York on Monday, using the occasion to emphasize the need to expose and condemn state sponsorship of terrorism.
In his address, Jaishankar underscored the shared global responsibility to fight terrorism, declaring, “Terrorism anywhere is a threat to peace everywhere.” He noted that the exhibition serves as both a tribute and a call to action. “A tribute to those who were taken away from us and remembrance of lives shattered… By our gathering, we express solidarity with the families and the loved ones of the victims of terrorism,” he said.
The External Affairs Minister emphasized the powerful symbolism of the exhibition, calling it “not merely a presentation of images, videos, and testimonies,” but a “statement of our shared humanity.” He added, “It is a gallery of human courage—each moment, each memory, each artefact, and every word tells the story of a life interrupted, altered, or lost.”
He reiterated India’s long-standing position on the need for zero tolerance towards terrorism, referencing the recent condemnation by the UN Security Council of the terrorist attack in Pahalgam. “The world must come to some basic concepts: no impunity to terrorists, no treating them as proxies, and no yielding to nuclear blackmail,” he stated firmly.
Calling for accountability, Jaishankar asserted, “Any state sponsorship must be exposed and must be condemned.” His remarks highlighted India’s consistent efforts to bring international attention to cross-border terrorism and its human cost.
The exhibition aims to shed light on the lives affected by terrorism and reinforce the importance of international solidarity in addressing this persistent global threat. (ANI)
