Washington, January 17 (ANI): The Observer Research Foundation, along with the Indian Embassy in the United States, the Senate AI Caucus, and the Special Competitive Studies Project, convened a panel discussion on India-US collaboration in the field of technology.
At the discussion held on Friday, India’s Deputy Chief of Mission to the US, Ambassador Namgya Khampa, outlined India’s priorities and vision ahead of the AI Impact Summit scheduled to be held in February.
In a post on social media platform X, the Indian Embassy in the United States said that ahead of the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi in February 2026, the Embassy, together with ORF America, the Senate AI Caucus, and the Special Competitive Studies Project, organized a panel discussion at the US Congress. The post said Ambassador Khampa highlighted India-USA collaboration in technology and innovation as a key pillar of the bilateral partnership.
Meanwhile, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Wednesday participated in the Pongal celebrations at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, during which he announced that India will host the prestigious AI Impact Summit next month under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Addressing reporters, Pradhan said countries around the world are rapidly adopting artificial intelligence across sectors such as education, healthcare, and manufacturing. He said the AI Impact Summit would bring together governments, institutions, and stakeholders to deliberate on how to implement the disruptive technology across education, agriculture, healthcare, logistics, and manufacturing.
Pradhan also noted that last year the Government of India established a Centre of Excellence for AI in education. He said the center, located at IIT Madras, is being developed as a hub and that his visit was aimed at reviewing its progress on the sidelines of the upcoming summit.
He added that India’s education ecosystem, including federal and state governments and institutions, is preparing to integrate AI into curricula, pedagogy, and administrative systems as the country advances its AI capabilities.
