Washington [US], May 1 (ANI): Three Indian-origin individuals were found dead following a shooting incident at a residence in Newcastle, Washington, according to reports from The Seattle Times, citing the King County medical examiner’s office.
The shooting occurred at a townhouse located on 129th Place Southeast. King County sheriff’s spokesperson Brandyn Hull confirmed that deputies responded to a 911 call around 7:00 PM on April 24. Upon arrival, investigators discovered blood on the front window and a single hollow-point bullet on the street.
The victims have been identified as Shwetha Panyam (41) and Dhruva Kikkeri (14), both of whom died from gunshot wounds. The deaths of Panyam and Dhruva have been classified as homicides, while Harshavardhana Kikkeri (44) died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, with the death ruled as a suicide.
Brandyn Hull stated that it is too early to determine whether the case is a murder-suicide. In a statement released on Monday, she emphasized that investigations are ongoing and detectives are working tirelessly to understand the circumstances leading to the tragic event. “Until this work concludes, the Sheriff’s Office won’t have any further updates,” she added.
According to Alex Gumina, President of the Homeowner Association, the family—a husband, wife, and their two sons—lived in the townhouse and were generally private, not engaging much with neighbors.
The sheriff’s office has not disclosed additional details about the incident, including the potential motive or the relationships between the deceased individuals.
