Chandigarh (Punjab) [India], June 8 (ANI): In two separate incidents on Sunday, the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) of Punjab, in a joint operation with Muktsar Police, arrested three wanted fugitives. The arrests followed the detention of an associate of a gangster in the state. Weapons and drugs were recovered from the possession of the fugitives.
The accused have been identified as Gaurav Kumar (also known as Billa), Vikasdeep Singh, and Lovepreet Singh. All three were wanted in multiple criminal cases, including serious offences under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act. “Accused Gaurav was a fugitive in a case registered at Malout police station, while the other two were wanted in a case registered at Sri Muktsar Sahib police station,” Punjab Director General of Police (DGP), Gaurav Yadav, shared in an X post on Sunday. The police recovered 174 grams of heroin, two pistols (.32 bore), and 10 live cartridges. Preliminary investigation revealed the trio was planning to eliminate a rival.
In a separate incident earlier on Sunday, the AGTF apprehended Nilson Massih alias Sunny, an associate of gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria, said Punjab Police DGP Gaurav Yadav. Massih was involved in a sensational shootout at Ghoman Batala, which resulted in the killing of Gora Bariar and injuries to Billa Mandiala.
The arrested accused has a long criminal history, including charges of murder, attempted murder, robbery, snatching, and violations under the Arms Act, the official added. Preliminary interrogation revealed Massih was in regular contact with Jaggu Bhagwanpuria and, acting on his directions, orchestrated the murder of Gora Bariar. Massih, along with three associates, carried out the attack.
Further investigations are underway to track down and apprehend the remaining accused. The arrested person has been handed over to Batala Police for further action. (ANI)
