
Dushanbe [Tanzania], April 14 (ANI): India’s defense technology sector is making its presence felt at the Mini Defexpo in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, with several companies showcasing their cutting-edge solutions. Among the participants, Tonbo Imaging stands out with its advanced electro-optics and imaging systems.
Speaking to ANI, Lt Commander Rajinder Kumar, Vice President of Tonbo Imaging, highlighted the company’s global footprint, stating that it has already exported significant volumes of products to Morocco and is in advanced discussions with Ghana, Nigeria, and Kenya. Tonbo Imaging manufactures a wide range of electro-optics systems for various military applications, including handheld weapons, surveillance systems, and equipment for land, naval, and air platforms.
Lt Commander Kumar also shared that Tonbo Imaging has engaged in discussions with the Tanzanian Army and emphasized their solid presence in Africa. “We have been talking with the Tanzanian Army, and we already have a good presence in Africa. We’ve supplied to Morocco and are in advanced talks with Ghana, Nigeria, and Kenya,” he said.
Additionally, Pawan Bagga from ARI Simulation, the naval simulation arm of Zen Technologies, detailed their offerings at the expo. The company provides integrated simulation systems, including full mission bridge simulators, full mission machinery simulators, and various sensors and weapon systems. Bagga mentioned the successful association with Tanzanian authorities, with large-scale simulators already installed at the Dar-e-Salaam Maritime Institute and Bhandari College.
Abhay Inge, representing Goa Shipyard Limited, also showcased their shipbuilding capabilities at the expo. Goa Shipyard is a key player in building ships for the Indian Navy and the Indian Coast Guard, specializing in OPV (Offshore Patrol Vessels) and FPV (Fast Patrol Vessels). The company has already delivered several vessels, including 28 OPVs to the Indian Navy, and has exported to countries like Mauritius, Sri Lanka, and Oman.
Inge emphasized Goa Shipyard’s indigenous design capabilities and their commitment to timely delivery, which is a cornerstone of their operations. “We are here to support the Tanzanian Navy as they are interested in our OPV and FPV classes,” Inge added.
The event has provided a platform for Indian defence technology companies to engage with global players and showcase their products, with a special focus on Tanzania’s defence requirements.
