Belagavi (Karnataka) [India], January 7 (ANI): At least two workers were killed and six others seriously injured in a boiler explosion at the Inamdar Sugar Factory in Marakumbi village, Bailhongal taluk, Belagavi district, on Wednesday.
Officials reported that the incident occurred around 2:00 pm when hot molten material from the boiler spilled onto the workers, causing severe burns. Four of the injured are said to be in critical condition.
One worker was admitted to the Bailhongal government hospital, while the others were shifted under zero-traffic arrangements to a private hospital in Belagavi for urgent medical care.
Belagavi Superintendent of Police K. Ramrajan confirmed that a case has been registered and an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the explosion. The factory falls under the jurisdiction of the Muragod police station. Further details are awaited.
