Abu Dhabi [UAE], March 12 (ANI): The United Arab Emirates has activated its emergency security protocols as the military moves to intercept an incoming aerial attack.
According to an announcement by the country’s National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority, “UAE air defences are currently responding to a missile threat.”
Following the emergency alert, residents have been instructed to remain in safe locations while security forces manage the situation.
Authorities also advised the public to monitor official information channels for warnings and updates as real-time guidance is issued during the active threat.
The latest escalation follows a major barrage on Wednesday in which UAE air defence systems successfully intercepted 13 missiles, including six ballistic missiles and seven cruise missiles, along with 39 drones launched from Iran, Gulf News reported.
The report added that since the onset of what officials described as Iranian aggression, the UAE’s defensive systems have neutralized a total of 268 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles, and 1,514 unmanned aerial vehicles.
The regional hostilities have resulted in six fatalities involving Emirati, Pakistani, Nepali, and Bangladeshi citizens.
According to Gulf News, 131 individuals also sustained minor to moderate injuries, with victims from several countries including India, Pakistan, Egypt, and the Philippines.
In a statement following the latest interceptions, the UAE Ministry of Defence affirmed its full readiness to address any threats to the nation.
The ministry said it would firmly confront any attempts to undermine state security and would continue efforts to safeguard the country’s sovereignty, stability, and national interests amid the ongoing regional escalation. (ANI)
