Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), March 13 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, along with Defence Minister and Lucknow MP Rajnath Singh, on Friday inaugurated two phases of the 28-kilometre Green Corridor project in Lucknow, marking a significant step toward improving urban mobility in the state capital.
The inauguration of the project took place alongside the laying of the foundation stone for the remaining two phases, which will complete the entire corridor network designed to ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity across the city.
Addressing the gathering, CM Yogi said the initiative reflects the vision of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and has been implemented under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
“When the Defence Minister presented his vision regarding this initiative to us, we entrusted the project to the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA). The LDA cleared encroached land, raised funds through mortgage financing, and today two phases of this project have been dedicated to the public,” the Chief Minister said.
Lucknow emerging as a model capital
Yogi Adityanath said Lucknow is rapidly emerging as a model state capital with modern infrastructure and improved urban planning.
“Lucknow stands as a prime example of what a state capital ought to be. Visitors from across the country and the world now remark that Lucknow has truly achieved something innovative. Indeed, the capital has now truly become the embodiment of the phrase: ‘Smile, you are in Lucknow’,” he said.
The Chief Minister also announced that approval has been granted to accelerate the Lucknow Metro rail project, adding that the city is also being developed as an “AI City”, with the necessary resources already secured.
Road network expansion
Highlighting earlier infrastructure initiatives, Yogi Adityanath noted that during the tenure of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Rajnath Singh—then serving as Transport Minister—had gifted Shaheed Path to the city. Later, through discussions with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, the Kisan Path project was also secured for Lucknow.
Earlier in the day, Rajnath Singh and Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the Green Corridor during a programme organised at Samtamulk Square. The Defence Minister also inspected the stretch from Samtamulk Square to Daliganj Bridge and honoured employees associated with the project.
The leaders later addressed a public meeting at Jhulelal Vatika in Hasanganj, highlighting the government’s broader push to transform Lucknow into a modern, technology-driven urban hub. (ANI)
