New Delhi [India], November 18 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh is gearing up for its fifth groundbreaking ceremony as the state accelerates its economic momentum with a fresh wave of investment projects and sweeping reforms. The initiatives align with the ambitious goal of achieving a USD 1 trillion Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) by 2029, Awanish Kumar Awasthi, Advisor to the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, told ANI.
Outlining the transformation underway, Awasthi said, “Three things which everyone should understand about UP are — we are getting on the growth path to achieve the target of one trillion dollars GSDP by 2029 given by the CM; all sectors are being taken up but we are also doing very well in education, health, medical education, and health services.” He added that the state has launched a Zero Poverty Program to promote holistic development.
Speaking about the upcoming groundbreaking ceremony, Awasthi said it reflects the pace at which development is progressing. “Almost everything is going at very good speed. Very soon, there is going to be a groundbreaking ceremony again, maybe the fifth this time. Projects that have now come in line will be started,” he noted.
The state is also positioning itself as an emerging hub for Global Capability Centres (GCCs). New policies have been introduced to attract such centres, and targeted outreach initiatives are gaining momentum.
“We also have new policies on GCCs. Yesterday or the day before yesterday, our industry department had an outreach in Mumbai for new companies in GCC,” Awasthi said, underscoring the state’s proactive engagement with industry leaders.
He highlighted the significant shift in the business environment, crediting improved internal security for strengthening investor confidence. “Law and order has improved tremendously in UP, as also mentioned by Piyush Goyal, Commerce Minister, and we have developed a business environment,” he added.
Awasthi outlined three key pillars driving this transformation: robust economic growth, substantial advances in education and healthcare, and the launch of the pioneering Zero Poverty Program to ensure inclusive development. Together, these efforts mark a state preparing for long-term structural progress.
A major highlight of the development roadmap is the upcoming fifth groundbreaking ceremony, during which a fresh wave of approved investment projects will be inaugurated. The state’s industry department has intensified investor outreach, including a recent engagement in Mumbai to attract companies exploring opportunities under the new GCC policy, he said.
On the infrastructure front, Awasthi noted that expansion is occurring at an unprecedented scale. Seven new expressways are currently in various stages of development, promising transformative connectivity across the state. The tourism sector is also witnessing renewed momentum, with multiple projects aimed at enhancing Uttar Pradesh’s appeal for domestic and international visitors.
In agriculture, technological adoption — including drones and precision tools — is helping farmers improve productivity and efficiency, he said.
Perhaps the most significant change, Awasthi stressed, has been in the state’s law and order landscape, which has improved dramatically and earned acknowledgement from Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal. This strengthened security environment has been central to boosting investor confidence and supporting Uttar Pradesh’s economic aspirations. (ANI)
