Florida, April 22 (ANI) — A Delta Air Lines flight bound for Atlanta caught fire on the tarmac at Orlando International Airport on Monday, prompting an emergency evacuation of all 282 passengers via emergency slides, according to CNN.
The fire broke out in one of the aircraft’s two engines shortly after the plane began taxiing for departure. Dramatic footage from a passenger in the terminal captured flames shooting from the right engine’s tailpipe.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has launched an investigation into the incident.
Delta Air Lines stated that flight crews followed emergency protocols and safely evacuated all passengers. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported.
“We appreciate our customers’ cooperation and apologize for the experience. Nothing is more important than safety,” Delta said. The airline is working to transport the passengers to their final destinations using other aircraft while maintenance teams examine the affected plane.
