Tehran [Iran], March 19 (ANI): Iranian state media outlet Press TV reported on Thursday that suicide drones struck a U.S. military base in Iraq, while explosions were reported at a U.S. military base in Kuwait.
Press TV shared the updates in a series of posts on X, stating, “Suicide drones reportedly hit a U.S. military base in northern Iraq, causing multiple explosions in Erbil.”
It added, “Explosions were reported at a U.S. military base in Kuwait.”
Meanwhile, Al Jazeera Breaking reported that one person was killed and several others were wounded in an air attack on a paramilitary base in Iraq.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) also said missiles were launched from Iran toward Israel, adding that its defense systems were operating to intercept the threat.
As tensions escalate in West Asia and the Gulf, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) Centre said it had received a report of an incident 11 nautical miles east of Khawr Fakkan, United Arab Emirates.
According to the UKMTO, a vessel was struck by an unknown projectile, resulting in a fire onboard. It advised vessels to transit with caution and report any suspicious activity as authorities continue to investigate.
It also reported another incident four nautical miles east of Ras Laffan, Qatar, where a vessel was hit by an unknown projectile. While all crew members were reported safe, the UKMTO again advised caution for vessels in the area.
The third week of the conflict in West Asia has seen a significant expansion in the scale of attacks by both U.S.-Israel forces and Iran.
Earlier on Wednesday night (local time), Iran retaliated following an Israeli strike on the South Pars Gas Field by targeting gas facilities in Qatar. Qatar’s Ras Laffan Industrial City was hit by ballistic missiles, resulting in extensive damage, according to the country’s Ministry of Defence. The attack marked the second strike within 12 hours on the world’s largest liquefaction facility. (ANI)
