Washington DC [US], May 12 (ANI): Renowned American foreign policy expert Michael Kugelman praised India’s strong leadership in responding to Pakistan’s actions during Operation Sindoor. Reflecting on the nature of the crisis, Kugelman highlighted the brutality of the Pahalgam terror attack, which specifically targeted civilians and tourists based on their religion. He noted that this attack had a profound and traumatic impact on India, prompting the government to deliver a robust response.
“This crisis was different on many levels,” Kugelman said, pointing out the unprecedented nature of the attack and the scale of India’s retaliatory measures. He emphasized that the airstrikes conducted by India were of a magnitude not seen since the 1971 war. Kugelman also noted the extended duration of hostilities compared to previous military crises, which led to global concerns from countries like the US, the UK, the EU, and nations in the Middle East.
Kugelman commended India’s leadership under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, citing the consistent approach of projecting strength, confidence, and defiance in the face of adversity. He observed that the Indian government’s response delivered a clear message: India achieved its tactical and strategic goals in protecting itself from external threats.
Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7, aimed to target terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir after a deadly attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 tourists. The operation successfully eliminated over 100 terrorists, destroyed 11 airbases in Pakistan, and significantly damaged military capabilities.
Air Marshal AK Bharti emphasized the precision and success of the operation, stating that India’s military capabilities were clearly demonstrated. Vice Admiral AN Pramod issued a stern warning to Pakistan, declaring that any further provocation would result in a resolute response from India.
