Los Angeles [US], April 26 (ANI/WAM):
The United States has recorded 884 confirmed cases of measles so far this year, marking a dramatic surge compared to 2024 figures, according to the latest data from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
The CDC reported on Friday that 11 measles outbreaks have been identified nationwide in 2025.
The agency defines an outbreak as three or more epidemiologically linked cases.
Confirmed measles cases have been reported across 30 US jurisdictions, resulting in 94 hospitalizations and three deaths attributed to the disease.
This marks a sharp increase from 2024, when the US recorded a total of just 285 cases.
Health officials stressed that vaccination remains the most effective protection against measles.
The CDC continues to urge the public to receive two doses of the MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccine, which is highly effective in preventing infection. (ANI/WAM)
