
Washington DC [US], May 12 (ANI): The US State Department has expressed its approval of the understanding reached between India and Pakistan regarding the cessation of hostilities. The department commended the leadership of both nations for demonstrating wisdom, prudence, and statesmanship in opting for peace.
In a statement, the State Department highlighted that US President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio continue to encourage direct communication between India and Pakistan, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a full ceasefire. The US also reiterated its willingness to assist in facilitating constructive discussions between the two countries to prevent future conflicts.
“We commend Prime Ministers Modi and Sharif on their wisdom, prudence, and statesmanship in choosing the path of peace,” the State Department remarked. “President Trump and Secretary Rubio continue to urge both countries to maintain a full ceasefire and engage in direct communication. The United States continues to offer its support in facilitating productive discussions to avert future conflict.”
Earlier, on May 10, the United States welcomed the diplomatic efforts that led to the breakthrough between India and Pakistan, praising the engagement that resulted in halting all military actions on land, at sea, and in the air.
Operation Sindoor, launched by India on May 7, was a response to the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam that killed 26 tourists. During a press briefing on May 10, senior commanders from the Indian Armed Forces detailed the successful outcomes of the operation, including the elimination of over 100 terrorists and the destruction of 11 airbases in Pakistan. The operation, which included air, land, and sea strikes, was carried out with calibrated restraint, minimizing civilian casualties.
Air Marshal AK Bharti highlighted India’s military capabilities, noting that the country demonstrated the ability to target every system at Pakistan’s bases, while Vice Admiral AN Pramod issued a stern warning to Pakistan, stressing that any further provocation would be met with a resolute response.
