Tehran [Iran], August 24 (ANI): Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on Sunday issued a stern warning to the United States, declaring that Washington seeks to make Tehran “obedient,” but the Iranian people will resist with “all their strength” against such a “false expectation.”
Speaking on the anniversary of the martyrdom of the eighth Shia Imam, Imam Reza (PBUH), Khamenei said Iran is “deeply offended.”
“The US wants Iran to be obedient to it. The Iranian nation is deeply offended by such a great insult and will stand with all its strength against those who harbour such a false expectation of the Iranian people,” he said.
Khamenei stressed that American hostility toward Iran is not new, noting that successive US administrations have pursued policies of enmity, sanctions, and threats against the Islamic Republic since the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution, according to IRNA.
He dismissed those advocating direct negotiations with Washington as “shallow-minded,” asserting that the reasons behind US hostility have long been disguised under claims of terrorism, human rights, women’s rights, and democracy.
However, Khamenei argued that the current US administration has openly revealed its true motive, admitting that its opposition to Iran arises from the desire to see the nation submit to American demands.
Calling for national unity, Khamenei urged Iranians—including officials and intellectuals—to reinforce what he described as the “iron shield” of unity in the face of external pressure. He also called on the public to support President Masoud Pezeshkian.
The Supreme Leader further underlined that Iran’s adversaries have realized through the determination of the Iranian people and the strength of the Armed Forces that the nation cannot be subdued or commanded through war. (ANI)
