Union Rural Development and Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has written to Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, informing him that the Central Government will allocate additional funds to the state for the implementation of the Digital India Land Records Modernisation Program (DILRMP), according to a press release from the Chief Minister’s Office.
Commending Uttarakhand’s active participation in national efforts to transform rural India, Chouhan expressed confidence that under CM Dhami’s leadership, the state would set new benchmarks in the execution of the DILRMP.
Earlier, CM Dhami had submitted a request to the Union Minister seeking special assistance of ₹478.50 crore under the Central Sector Scheme of the Ministry of Rural Development. In his letter, the Chief Minister outlined the state’s needs, including ₹350 crore for conducting a comprehensive survey/resurvey of Uttarakhand’s land using modern technologies such as LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging).
Additionally, the state requested the release of pending funds for constructing modern record rooms at the tehsil level.
Responding to the appeal, the Union Minister confirmed that Uttarakhand will receive full support for pilot testing of land surveys in five villages using DILRMP funds already available with the state. Based on the outcomes of this pilot project, additional funds will be allocated to extend the survey/resurvey across all rural areas.
Chouhan also stated that the outstanding payments for tehsil-level record rooms would be released soon. Furthermore, the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare is actively considering financial assistance to Uttarakhand under the AgriStack initiative, with the Union Minister personally monitoring the progress.
CM Dhami emphasized the state government’s focus on implementing robust land laws and timely digitisation of land records. He reaffirmed Uttarakhand’s commitment to contributing to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a modern and transparent land management system under the Digital India campaign.
“The support extended by the Central Government will significantly boost our efforts. We are deeply grateful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for their continued cooperation,” Dhami said. (ANI)
